New Panjiva Platform Makes It Easier Than Ever to Find Overseas Suppliers with Natural Language Search Functionality
Enables users to search Panjiva like Google, customize results and quickly see critical supplier information
New York, Oct. 13, 2010 –Panjiva, the leading source of objective information on global manufacturers, today announced the availability of its latest supply chain intelligence platform. Panjiva has revolutionized its search functionality with the addition of natural language search functionality, enabling users to type a query in the same format they would in a traditional search engine for a better user experience and deeper, faster search. This latest version of Panjiva also provides more robust supplier information and options for users to easily save, compare, or group companies via a drag-and-drop “myPanjiva” toolbar.
In a few keystrokes, any member of a sourcing team has the ability to find overseas suppliers based on the products they supply, the geography in which they are located, and other U.S. companies with whom they have done business. Users can search Panjiva with a very specific query, like a competitor or supplier name, or conduct a broad search by region or item. Either way, Panjiva returns relevant results. Previously, users had to structure advanced, multi-field search queries to get appropriate results. Now, anyone who knows how to use Google knows how to find suppliers.
Panjiva also now delivers more information and analysis in search results. Users will be able to see commonly sought information—each supplier’s top customers and top products term—on the search results page, much like traditional search engines often provide links to commonly accessed subpages in their results. Users interested in learning more about a supplier can then click through for a complete profile. Additional added features include:
• Drag and drop functionality—add a company to a favorite list, group several together in a single profile or compare many at once by simply dragging them into the “myPanjiva” toolbar
• Boolean search support – enabling users to carry out more effective searches and cut out many unrelated results with the use of terms like and, or, and not
• Narrow down results with one click – toolbars to the left of the results enable users to limit results to a particular time period, region, country or other criteria with the check of a box
“With the persistence of poor economic conditions – not to mention the typical language, legal, and time-zone obstacles to doing business across borders – sourcing teams have enough challenges to overcome. Panjiva aims to minimize this burden,” said James Psota, Panjiva’s chief technology officer. “We’ve built technology that makes it almost effortless for sourcing professionals to get the powerful information they need to not only identify suppliers, but also gain competitive insight and advantage.”
The updated Panjiva platform is now available and being rolled out to current customers. For an overview of the new Panjiva, visit http://panjiva.com/new.
