Container handling through Charleston fell 7% on a year earlier in November. That was largely the result of a 36% slump in empty container handling, perhaps reflecting more efficient handling. Savannah meanwhile did somewhat better with a 3% expansion. The two also differed in that import growth outpaced exports in Charleston – as has been the case across most of the country – while for Savannah it was the other way around.
