Maersk is stepping up its game in refrigerated transportation, adding 5.5% to its container capacity. This follows a recent announcement by Hapag-Lloyd, and suggests competition in the reefer segment is heating up. The U.S.-bound market has been shrinking, by 3% in August and 11% in September based on Panjiva data. Yet, Maersk has been growing, with expansion in 14 of the past 15 months when including SeaLand on the U.S.-bound routes.
