American Business Sees Low Tariff Risks from Trump Administration

The latest ISM survey of American business shows expectations for continued export growth. Survey levels are down from a month earlier, but are still near three year highs. The proportion of managers expecting imports to increase improved and reached a level (56.3%, where over 50% represents an expansion) not seen since November 2014. That would suggest business does not expect tariffs or other trade barriers to be implemented by the Trump administration in the near term.
