Asia Exports Dropped in February, Little Hope Elsewhere in the World

Global 1389 Philippines 56 Trade Balance 932

Exports from the Philippines fell 0.9% year over year in February. As a result total exports across 14 Asian countries tracked by Panjiva dropped by 10.4% year over year. The signs for March are not bright with South Korea and Taiwan reporting lower exports. Vietnam’s improvement in March may be due to supply chain restructuring away from China due to the tariff war with the U.S. The evidence from Europe for February is also not good with the U.K. being the sole country to report higher exports so far as a result of accelerated pre-Brexit deliveries.
