C919 Jet Helps China Trade Negotiations, A Little Bit

China 3048 Industrials - Aero/Defense 203 Trade Deals 1017 U.S. 5399

The COMAC C919, China’s first domestically produced large scale airliner, has completed its maiden flight ahead of November deliveries. This could reduce China’s dependence on U.S. aerospace exports, helping strategically in ongoing trade talks. Panjiva data shows that aerospace accounted for 6% of U.S. exports in the last 12 months, and grew by just 1%. Chinese buyers accounted for 12% of the U.S. total and increased their demand by 5%. The impact shouldn’t be overstated though as the C919 uses overseas components and so far only has domestic airline orders.
