China rescues U.S. with surge of pharma, ventilator supplies in May

The U.S. economy is opening after COVID-19 lockdown measures, but the condition of medical supply chains remains pertinent as pharmacies prepare for the fall flu season. While export restrictions, particularly those from the EU, are being restricted there are still challenges for medical supply imports to the U.S. Seaborne imports of pharmaceuticals fell by 20% year over year in the first half of May including a 13.3% drop in shipments from Europe and a 22.1% slide in imports from India.
