Commerce Reapplies Tariffs After Dumpers Tarnish Stainless Market

The U.S. Commerce Department has reapplied anti-dumping duties on two Indian exporters of stainless steel bar. It alleges that Viraj Profiles and Venus Group reverted to dumping the product below cost after having had duties removed in 2004 and 2011 respectively. Panjiva data shows U.S. seaborne imports from India climbed 93% in the past 12 months on a year earlier, though accounted for only 7% of the total. Austrian and German suppliers accounted for 59% together.
