The spread of 2019-nCoV coronavirus has now reached nearly 25,000 cases. While 99.0% of cases are still in mainland China, the global logistics industry is already having to adapt. Container-lines Maersk, CMA-CGM and ONE have all discussed cutting shipping capacity from Asia to Europe. Freight forwarders Flexport and DP-DHL have warned of increased rate volatility for airfreight due to reduced “belly cargo” capacity on passenger jets, on top of marine shipping capacity cuts.
