Fragile 25 Month Sea- and Airfreight Growth Streak Faces Reality of Tariffs

Global sea- and airfreight volumes entered a 25th straight month of growth in April after marine port handling in nine countries covered by Panjiva climbed 5% on a year earlier. That was a recovery from 2% in March and may provide some hope of a demand-led recovery in rates for the container-lines. China’s port handling expansion of 6% was outpaced by Singapore’s 7%, while Mexico’s 10% surge beat America’s 3%.
