Hurricane Willa, currently a category four storm, is set to make landfall near the port of Mazatlan on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It could cause significant disruptions to imports in the short-term and to exports over the longer-term if the local economy suffers major damage. Imports to Mazatlan were worth $2.36 billion in the past 12 months, or 0.7% of the Mexican total. Leading importers that rely on the port and so may face supply chain disruptions include Pemex ($1.28 billion of imports) and Nissan ($488 million).
