Hyundai, GM Slam on Brakes, U.S. Auto Sales May Slow Soon

U.S. auto sales climbed 2.1% in November compared to a year earlier, including a 3.3% rise in sales of foreign light trucks offset in part by a 3.6% slide in sales of foreign cars. The big automakers may not be expecting a continuation however. U.S. imports of cars and light trucks from outside Canada and Mexico dropped by 5.0% year over year in October, led by a 13.7% slide in shipments from Japan linked to Subaru’s production problems. Exports from Europe slipped 0.3%, suggesting there are few concerns about the outstanding section 232 review of the industry by the Trump administration...
