JBS, WH Group have momentum challenge as Chinese meat inspections return

Chinese city authorities have restarted inspections of imported frozen meat amid concerns about the spread of COVID-19. Meat supplies to China have also been complicated by trade policy including the potential end of the phase 1 trade deal with the U.S. in December 2021. U.S. seaborne exports of meat to China are already in decline, with shipments down by 7.4% year over year in Q2’21. The downturn has been led by smaller shippers including Mountaire whose shipments fell by 50.1%. Even large suppliers including JBS and WH Group have experienced a downturn with shipments which fell by 9.7%...
