Samsung, LG Cut China Appliance Imports, Retail Sales May Be Tariff Driven

U.S. retail sales climbed 3.1% year over year in October, marking a slowdown from 4.0% growth seen in 3Q. Mainstream retailers continued to lose out to online marketers, while tariffs on imports from China may have had an impact on sales of furniture and electronics retailers. Sales by furniture retailers rose by just 0.9% in October after tariffs were increased in May on imports from China.
