COSCO Shipping Ports had a bumped September, with a 13% growth in handling to reach 6.2 million TEUs. That was the fastest rate of growth since at least 2015, and outpaced the national average of 12%. The growth was driven mostly by smaller ports. COSCO’s facilities are 30% of the national total, but its top 10 ports are only 57% of its handling vs. 74% nationally. The biggest driver of COSCO’s growth though was from its facilities in Yantian in Shenzhen, where furniture is the largest industry by volume and electronics by value.
