The U.S. solar power industry may see employment drop to 188,000 workers from 302,000 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic cutting new installations according to SEIA. Imports of solar energy equipment continue to surge despite the slowdown in installations, raising the risk of a jump in unused inventories. U.S. seaborne imports surged 278% higher year over year in the first four months of the year including a 188% jump in April despite manufacturing disruptions in China and Malaysia.
