Kone’s elevator supply chain solid; COVID-19 cuts construction activity

The coronavirus pandemic has led to the shutdown of many industrial and residential construction projects, cutting demand for elevator equipment. Kone’s CEO, Henrik Ehrnmooth, has noted though that the firm’s “supply chain has remained robust”, ensuring continued maintenance work. U.S. imports linked to Kone fell 16.6% year over year in the three months to Feb. 28, though shipments from Europe increased by 7.8% in Q1.
