Shipping Revenues Inch Ahead in 3Q as CMA-CGM Slips

Earnings 725 Logistics 476

CMA-CGM reported third quarter revenues that fell 16% on a year earlier excluding the impact of purchasing Neptune Orient. That compares to the shipping industry overall which contracted 10%. It did achieve better rates though – these increased 4% in the third quarter vs. the second, beating Hapag-Lloyd’s 3%. Despite CMA-CGM’s revenues falling 2.5% in the third quarter on the second, the shipping industry overall increased revenues in the third quarter by just 0.9%, or 2.6% when excluding Hanjin Shipping. This is the second quarter of growth, but is a long way from a firm recovery.
