Australian gas supplier AGL plans to build an LNG import terminal in Victoria, due to come online in 2021, to meet growing domestic demand. It will have to compete with Chinese buyers including CNOOC and Petrochina for Australian LNG. Chinese imports from Australia reached a new high of $620 million in June, a 98% increase on a year earlier after the startup of the Gorgon gas facility.
