JBS faces a package of problems and opportunities from coronavirus

The food industry faces disruptions from the spread of coronavirus with export restrictions being introduced by some countries. Food manufacturers such as JBS may need to retool their supply chains to serve retail rather than food service channels. JBS has also “made provisions of discounts” to support customers in Brazil according to CEO Gilberto Tomazoni. JBS had already seen a 24.1% drop in exports from Brazil in January compared to a year earlier, including a 36.0% slide in shipments of beef.
