Panalpina CEO Stefan Karlen has flagged “lower results for the first half of the year”, which compares to analysts’ forecasts of a 16% growth rate. He cites market challenges despite expanding volumes. This wouldn’t be the first disappointment vs. the market – first quarter revenues were 5% lower than expectations. By contrast its freight forwarder peers on average were 2% better. More recently Panalpina has underperformed its competitors in areas including U.S.-inbound freight volumes.
