The global shipbuilding industry has continued to struggle in 2019 with China’s yards – including those owned by CSIC – having seen negligible new orders in June. That’s lead the remaining orderbook to the lowest since Nov. 2018 at 81.72 million deadweight tons. Industry association CANSI expect new orders to be unchanged year over year. That’s a sentiment shared by Hyundai Heavy Industries’ CEO Ka Sam-hyun who’s stated “most shipowners are hesitating to make a decision” because of the U.S.-China trade war and a weakening economy. ...
