U.S. imports of refrigerators declined by 20% in the three months to October 31, Panjiva data shows. One bright spot is specialty products. Imports of wine fridges, which accelerated in 2011 but declined in 2013, increased 7.5% over the same period. The most rapidly growing segment though are kegerators – fridges with integrated beer storage and taps. Going into the holiday season, imports of kegerators climbed 27%, and were 1.7x greater in number of shipments than those for wine fridges over the past three months.
