Container handling through South Africa’s ports climbed 10% on a year earlier, well ahead of the 6% growth in total cargo throughput. That was also the fastest rate of growth since January, leading to the largest volume since August 2015 at 409,914 TEUs. Importantly for the local economy, the growth South Africa was led by exports, which surged ahead by 15%. South Africa’s growth repeats a pattern seen in both U.S. and Chinese ports in July.
