Brazil’s meat export crisis may be abating after the EU and Hong Kong relaxed import rules introduced as a result of a corruption investigation into food standards. They had initially banned all imports, but have now restricted the ban to just the 21 companies being investigated. Panjiva analysis of over 360 country-product pairs shows the EU accounted for 40% of Brazil’s meat exports in the past 12 months, while Hong Kong and China were 21.5%.
