Deutsche Post DHL’s Colombian Deal Shows Smaller is Better and Necessary

Freight-forwarder Deutsche Post DHL has acquired Suppla in Colombia to expand its Latin American network. The move confirms the trend towards bolt-on deals in the forwarder sector rather than the large-scale consolidation that may have been expected from comments by DSV and others. It is also similar to moves made by COSCO Shipping and NYK. While Suppla is domestically focused it will bring additional customer opportunities to DP-DHL for international shipping.
