LNG Lights Up as U.S. Exports Jump 9x and China’s Purchases Double

The U.S. may become the world’s second largest LNG supplier by 2022, the IEA estimate. That would be the result of a significant program of construction supported by the Trump administration. The investments could lead to 27 export facilities coming online vs. one currently. U.S. exports climbed 9x on a year earlier in May in dollar terms, with volumes reaching a new high. Destination markets are diverse, with gas sent to 15 countries in the month. China received no U.S. gas in May, but will in June, and its imports jumped 137% in May including a 39% price increase (ie volumes doubled). ...
