New Record for Global Container Handling as Brazil Lets Side Down

Brazil 402 China 2999 Corp - Ports 893 Global 1389 Mexico 896 Mode - Containerized 1489 Mode - Seaborne 1818

Global seaborne container handling increased 7% on a year earlier based on a sample of nine countries. That was the 14th straight month of growth, with 3.29 million TEUs handled being the highest since 2013. Only Brazil saw a decline, with a 3% drop on lower exports. Mexico by contrast saw a 12.6% rise in handling while Hong Kong was the fastest growing of all at 13.4%. When combined with 13% air traffic growth a continued expansion in global trade looks assured in June.
