The latest installment of the Star Wars movie franchise, “Rogue One” saw opening weekend box office revenues of $290 million, well down on “The Force Awakens”. Imports of tie-in merchandise didn’t fare well either, with a 24% drop in the five months to November 30 after November saw a 9% decline. Yet, shipments of toys related to the franchise improved 9% in November, led by a 550% increase in Lego Star Wars items. That marks an improvement for both brands from recent months, and partly offsets a slump in videogame and non-toy/game merchandise.
