The Chinese government may soon impose additional restrictions on imports of scrap metals from the U.S., That comes as wider trade negotiations are supposed to be wrapping up. U.S. exports of scrap metals, plastics and paper to China have fallen 40.4% year over year in the 12 months to Feb. 28. Yet, total U.S. exports have increased 8.4% to $14.6 billion – of which $11.5 billion were metals – as exporters including Minmetals and Sims Metals have found alternative markets.
