U.S. imports of statins, used to primarily to manage cholesterol, increased 14% in November on a year earlier. Crestor and its generic versions jumped 480% on a year earlier after the end of its patent in April. It took market share from generic Pravachol, which saw imports fall 35% to their lowest since 2012. Supplier competition remains fierce, with third-largest supplier Dr. Reddy’s expanding imports in the past quarter by 389% on a year earlier, with Lupin and Teva losing out.
