Brazilian miner Vale has suffered a second setback to its iron ore exports after its pelletizing plant at Tubarão was closed due to water contamination. The port of Tubarão accounted for 26.9% of Vale’s 342 million tons of exports in 2018. Chinese buyers, which may have included Baoshan Iron & Steel and the local subsidiary of Glencore, may see the most significant disruption given they accounted for 25.9% of Vale’s exports via Tubarão.
