Malaysian tanker operator MISC reported fourth quarter revenues that were 10% better than the third quarter, but were 12% below analysts’ expectations. That may be due to a 9% drop in LNG revenues because of lower rates. The petroleum product business gained 20%, just behind Bahri’s 22% and well ahead of Euronav’s 10%. The outlook is not so bright, with management expecting the petroleum business to “come under pressure” in 2017 on tanker oversupply. That may clear later in the year as new ballast water rules come into effect.
