Tanker operator Tsakos Energy Navigation reported a 13% jump in third quarter revenues on a year earlier. That was the first increase since 4Q 2015, but was slightly below analysts’ forecasts due to lower-than-expected utilization. The company has an upbeat outlook, similar to Gener8 Maritime. It sees an “upward momentum” in freight rates and has been aggressively building up its fleet and market share. Despite Tsakos’s strong growth the tanker/bulker industry still likely saw a 3% drop in revenues in the first quarter.
