Volvo Echoes GM’s BAT Comments As XC SUV Imports Climb

Volvo Cars has expressed concerns that a U.S. border-adjustable tax could either hurt consumers via higher prices or cut profits. This echoes comments made by GM CEO Mary Barra and comes ahead of the company opening a U.S. factory to produce the S60 sedan in 2018. Panjiva data shows Volvo’s imports are dominated by the XC range of SUVs. Shipments of that model expanded 25% in the first quarter of 2017 on a year earlier and accounted for 84% of imports by Volvo.
