Australian exports fell 0.6% in July, with both China and the U.S. taking fewer Australian products. Exports to the rest of the world increased, partly driven by gold. China’s imports from Australia fell on a 14.9% drop in iron ore exports. Yet, China’s total imports of the ore climbed in August, suggesting a recovery is possible for Australia. Exports to the U.S. look set to remain depressed – Panjiva data shows a 31% drop in August in shipments.
