The U.S. Commerce Department completed its determination of anti-dumping duties against silicon metal exports from three countries including Brazil. The decision had been delayed by 50 days, and followed a countervailing subsidy element. That was passed on August 8, and does not appear to have deterred all suppliers. Exports from Brazil jumped 5.5x in August vs. July to reach a new record, though those shipments may have left port before the initial decision was made. Australian and Norwegian exporters were more conservative, cutting shipments by 49% and 45% respectively.
