Apple’s fiscal first quarter results showed iPhone shipments increased 5% on a year earlier, outstripping analysts’ expectations of a 2% increase. Panjiva data shows that exports from China by key suppliers Foxconn and Pegatron – including non-Apple products – increased 11% in the three months to November 30. That may suggest extra shipments made to the U.S. to beat any new tariffs. A similar trend has been seen in exports from South Korea and Vietnam, supplier nations for Samsung Electronics.
