Container handling by the Puget Sound ports of Seattle and Tacoma increased 0.5% on a year earlier in April, well below March’s 14% jump. That continues a run of sporadic improvements. Imports of full containers increased 6% on a year earlier, while exports increased by just 0.7%. It was Alaska lanes where there was disappointment, with a 18% drop being the fastest since at least 2014.
