World trade contracted 0.9% on a year earlier in July, Panjiva calculations based on CPB World Monitor data show – only the second decline since November 2009. A drop in Asia and Latin America is to blame. The OECD expects trade growth to contract this year, but there are signs of hope. Brazil’s exports increased 10%, and U.S. seaborne imports 4% in August.
