Nissan Leads Japanese Auto Exports by Going Rogue

Cons. Discr. - Autos 1247 Japan 629 U.S. 5399

Auto exports from Japan climbed 5% on a year earlier in June, Panjiva analysis of company filings shows. That was the fifth straight increase, and the best result for the month of June on record. Nissan sustained its growth streak for a 14th month, with a 30% increase likely reflecting shipments of the Rogue SUV, particularly to the U.S. Honda saw a downturn of 45%, but that likely reflects increased “in-market” production overseas. The U.S. has been a disappointing for Japanese exporters in total, with shipments falling as much as 27%, a fifth month of declines as sales slide.
