The Japanese automakers increased their exports by 5% on a year earlier in March, Panjiva’s analysis of company filings shows. That was an acceleration from the 3% seen in February. Nissan led with a 55% rise in exports, largely driven by increased domestic production of the Armada and Juke SUVs. Toyota by contrast saw a 2% drop which was likely the result of production being moved overseas. The U.S. continued to be a difficult market. Total imports from all countries increased 30% Panjiva data shows, whereas those from Japan dropped 11%.
