The Port of Los Angeles outperformed that of Long Beach for a third month in a row in September. It handled 2% more TEUs than a year earlier vs. a 17% slump for Long Beach. Hanjin Shipping’s demise is partly to blame. LA may pull further ahead with an investment by APM Terminals increasing capacity. Both are losing out to the east coast though as the Panama Canal expansion begins to take effect.
