Container line Maersk reported a 16% surge in revenues in Q4’20 which included a 3.2% rise in volumes handled and a 17.7% rise in achieved rates in its ocean freight operations. The firm has noted that the increase in rates may prove “temporary” while it has also seen a drag to profits from “bottlenecks, higher costs and difficulties in meeting our customer reliability promises”.
