The port of Gävle in eastern Sweden will double its containerized handling capacity to 600,000 TEU per year after a decade of growth. That comes after a difficult year for Swedish logistics that was dominated by Maersk’s strike in Gothenburg. That in part led to a 6% drop in shipments to the U.S. in the 12 months to November 30, which accelerated to 9% in the past quarter.
