South Korea has reportedly called for a second round of KORUS talks. Following talks between the two countries’ leaders and trade ministers. Prior talks failed on the U.S. focus on the trade deficit – South Korea wanted an investigation first. President Trump remains committed to wanting to “straighten out” the deal – it’s difficult to see this being a reference to anything other than the deficit. To a certain extent the South Korean surplus vs. the U.S. was already “straightening out”, having fallen for 15 straight months to July 31 to drop to an annual level not seen since April 2013. ...
