Japanese and American trade negotiators meet from January 24 for the third round of talks kicked off by President Trump and Prime Minister Abe in 2017. These will be largely technical in nature, focussed on delivering export improvements rather than a broader bilateral deal. The industries in focus will reportedly be agriculture (beef sanitary standards) and autos (type-approval rules).
