The U.S. ITA has decided to proceed with an investigation of exports of polyester staple fiber from five countries including China. Initial determinations are due by July 17. Average import prices for the products concerned fell 8% in the 12 months to April 30 on a year earlier while volumes imported climbed 11%. Chinese manufacturers led the charge, with a 33% jump in exports in the month of April. Producers from there including Cixi Jiangnan Chemical and Hangzhou Best Chemical may be targets for the investigation.
