Negotiations between the U.S. and Mexico to review the sugar suspension agreements of December 2014 are becoming more controversial. This is largely on technical points, but comes at a time of increasing political scrutiny of trade relations. Panjiva data shows U.S. imports of the products from Mexico fell 41% in August on a year earlier.
