Hasbro has accelerated its plans to reduce its reliance on China as a supplier as a result of the risk of tariffs being applied to toy imports by the Trump administration. Should tariffs be applied, Hasbro CFO Deborah Thomas has warned that in the short-term the firm will “pass this increase onto customers through higher prices” while in the longer-term the firm has increased “resources invested in this program to accelerate our plans” to cut China to 50% of sourcing by end-2020 from 67% today.
